Daniel Farr grew up in Lakeland, FL and received his Bachelor of Music Education as well as his Masters of Music Education degrees from the Florida State University. While at FSU, Mr. Farr was President of CMENC (Collegiate Music Educator’s National Conference) and the Music Education liaison for the Dean’s Student Advisory Council. During his time with the Marching Chiefs, Mr. Farr held the positions of row leader, clarinet section leader, Assistant Drum Major, and Head Drum Major. He studied conducting with Patrick Dunnigan, Richard Clary, and Alex Jimenez, and clarinet with Deborah Bish. He is a clinician for the Marching Band Leadership Camp and the Honors Chamber Winds camp for the FSU Summer Music Camps and is co-founder of the Gulf Coast Drum Major Camp in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Before arriving at Winter Haven High School, Mr. Farr was the assistant band director for two years at Ft. Walton Beach High School in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, followed by 5 years at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL. Ensembles under Mr. Farr's direction have consistently earned Superior ratings at Marching MPA, District and State Solo and Ensemble, as well as District and State Concert Music Performance Assessment. His bands have also earned the Otto J. Kraushaar award for Straight Superiors across all aspects of a program in a year 4 separate times. He has been actively sought after as a concert clinician and clarinet pedagog. Mr. Farr’s professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, Phi Mui Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc., the Florida Bandmasters Association, the National Bandmasters Association, the Florida Music Educator’s Association, and NAfME: the National Association for Music Education. Mr. Farr is very excited about the future of the Winter Haven High School band program!
